Ewan McDougall (1948-) was born in Wellington, New Zealand. After his family moved to Oamaru he was attended Waitaki Boys High School and was taught painting by North Otago regionalist painter Colin Wheeler.
McDougall is an expressionist painter, with a vibrant signature style. His witty, outrageous works contain references to his sometimes volatile life, and his signature palette of strong, primary colour and crude figures.
