Art on Sunday! New work going LIVE tonight: a photographic print from William Wegman; and an abstract composition in oil from Richard Adams.
American photographer William Wegman is known for his portraits of his Weimaraner dogs. Wegman’s celebrated photographs of his dogs, Man Ray and Fay Ray, have been celebrated in the art world and enjoyed by pet lovers for nearly four decades. Christchurch Art Gallery held the first and only New Zealand exhibition of American artist William Wegman’s photographic work in 2019. This image, Casual, is also the cover image from the show’s catalogue William Wegman: Being Human, and comes with its original linen-bound print folio.
Richard Adams (1957-)
London born artist, Richard Adams, is now painting in Auckland. An abstract painter, Adams’ work is finely balanced, with pared-back surfaces, scraped away to reveal hidden layers. His minimalistic panels of vertical and horizontal plains are inspired by the subtle colours, radiant horizons and fine geometry of landscapes he encounters.
